NASHOBA VALLEY VOICE/ANNE O'CONNOR
During World Way II, many local boys answered their country's call to arms. The Home Town Committee kept in touch with service members from West Groton and North Shirley, sending cards, newsletters and boxes of gifts around the world. Letters written back to the committee, chaired by Mrs. Elliot Blood, were found on the floor of a closet after she died. A.S. Dynice, whose Polish-American family had a farm on the Groton/Shirley line, was included in mission of the Home Town Committee.
